Calgary, Alberta – As summer gets closer, you can expect a steady influx of volunteer workers to help your local church.
This year’s volunteer week is shaping up to be a great one.
Volunteer coordinator Jennifer Beals of The Good Shepherd Church in Calgary says she’s received a lot of applications from people looking to volunteer this weekend.
Beals says the number of applications is growing quickly and that this is a chance to help out your local community.
“It’s an opportunity for us to see the good that the community does, and help make sure that the church has a positive impact on their community and is contributing to their community.”
She says she’ll be posting all the applications on her church’s Facebook page and encourages people to apply in person at their church.
Beams says she anticipates about 50 volunteers will be working at the church this weekend, with more expected during the week.
The church has already had some success with volunteer work this year, including donating food to those in need.
Beales says she hopes the number will continue to grow as summer progresses.
“If we’re lucky enough to have volunteers come out, we’re going to be able to give them a sense of purpose, and make sure they’re contributing in a positive way.”
She encourages people who are interested to apply on the church’s website.
