A homeless man has been found sleeping in a vehicle outside a hotel in northern Manitoba, authorities say.
The incident happened in the town of Virden in north-central Manitoba on Saturday.
Authorities say the man was sleeping in his vehicle near a hotel on Main Street and the town’s main road when he was noticed by a local.
“He was laying in the front seat, in the passenger seat,” said Sgt. Chris Sattler with the Virdens County Sheriff’s Office.
“He was not moving.”
The man then called 911 and said he had just been outside for a while, but couldn’t find his vehicle, Sattlers said.
The suspect was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a head wound, according to the Sheriff’s office.
In a statement on its Facebook page, the Virdsons County Sheriff says it is “looking into the possibility of trespassing.”
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time,” the statement said.
“We ask that the public respect our officers and officers of law as they respond to these situations.”
